I just recently tested the camera of my Samsung Galaxy S25 (Navy Blue, 256Gb). Camera is version 15.0.01.71.
I printed out this focus chart and took some pictures with the 12MP, 50MP and 0.6x Ultrawide cameras. I also did the same test with the Huawei Mate 9 on the main camera (12MP and 20MP resolution).

Am I crazy to say that the Huawei Mate 9, a phone that's now 9 years old, took better photos than the Galaxy S25? I'm particularly disappointed with the Galaxy S25 Ultrawide camera, as it took an extremely blurry photo. I'm also quite concerned because I noticed in GSMArena's review of the Galaxy S25 that their unit was plagued by some kind of lens misalignment issue. Coincidentally, their unit was also navy blue 256GB model.

Is anyone else having this issue with the Galaxy S25 (and even S25+) taking blurry photos, especially noticeable on the ultra-wide lens? I noticed that there are some blurry areas around the corners on the main camera on the S25, but not on the Mate 9. I really don't know what that could be.:(

In the attachment you can find all the photos taken on both phones.

I haven't shot any charts, but I'm really not happy with my S25 Ultra. The problem is with the main camera indoors in low light. Pictures are blurry and the focus point is often off. My S21 and S23 Ultra take much better pictures. I'm going to see if Samsung will let me return it under warranty.

Mine going in today for repair, but I'm not expecting much. I guess it will end up on eBay or Swappa. I've learned my lesson to thoroughly check the camera during the 14 day return period. My old Galaxy S4 took better pictures than this.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S24+ and I have installed "Open Camera" from Google Play Store. I have set Open Camera as default. It has a lot options and especially no ads. I suggest you try it and let us know what you think. The options are unbelievable and I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried Open Camera, but the results were pretty much the same. Samsung received my phone for repair yesterday. It will be interesting to see what they find. There aren't many complaints in this forum so I might have just gotten a bad device. I'll write an update once Samsung returns it.

I'm sorry about your experience with the S25 camera. It's unfortunate that we pay a premium price for a device that could be defective from the factory.

I hope to hear from you soon when you get your phone back from repair. I wonder if the repair shop would admit that your phone may have had a hardware issue with the camera.

I've been VERY unhappy with camera abilities of the SG24U (1tb). Coincidentally, I Loved my
Huawei Mate ~ Camera was satisfying when I see images, esp. now.

In fact, I may NEVER purchase another Samsung again... for several reasons, this being top.

My apologies you are experiencing this. Wanted to share ~ You are Not Alone

Damn, I'd be even more unhappy paying more for the Ultra if was taking such poor & blurry photos. I'm really unhappy that if I have a hardware defect, I'd have to essentially send in a new phone for repair.

It's odd, but from what I've read, mostly here, the S23U apparently has a camera set with higher overall customer satisfaction, than both the S24U & S25U had, when they first came on the market. Not sure if updates ever remedied that or not. However I do know that my wifes' S23U has a camera & picture quality that is absolutely amazing, and by far the best I've ever seen.

Yeas. I liked my SG23U images much more than this SG24U. Everything seems challenging. I take a lot of pictures, & absolutely would have upgraded to 25U had i not traded for this one.

On a somewhat related note, what "Ratio" are you all using for full screen images? The update changed this setting.

Thx as always

So, I've figured out Full Screen,
But
How do you Edit/"Crop" for
"full screen" now?

Admittedly, the update helped Camera...
AI ???
