HI, newbie here, did a search but found nothing. I have Galaxy S7, At&t service. Have been getting notices about the email to mms/sms gateway being shut down soon. I have a surveillance NVR that sends a brief email to my phone via text messaging to alert me to an intruder. When the gateway ends, I will lose that capability. So far, I've found paid services that are geared to commercial use, recommendations to use Google messages, use email app on phone, etc. None of them work well. The email apps do not work in realtime, so by the time I get the alert, the damage is done. I tried to set up google messages, but I have no way to put that on the NVR. Even thought of trying to use Magic Jack/Magic App somehow, as I have Magicjack, but cannot find any gateway info. Maybe there is a solution that I have not thought of, maybe a program that acts like the weather alerts or amber alerts. The NVR sends an email through the yahoo SMTP server, to the phone [email protected]. Since the phone is Android based, I thought I should start here. I'm open to suggestions.
Thanks,
Joe Heck

Hi and welcome to Android Central !:-)

I don't know anything about the 'NVR' stuff, but I had an S7A w/AT&T (as we had been w AT&T for a very long time). But over time, I got really tired of them continually jacking-up they're monthly rates.
So we fired AT&T & DirecTV (also owned by AT&T), and switched back to Xfinity Mobile & Internet (Comcast), and have been very glad we did, only wish we had done so years earlier!
Xfinity Mobile has worked flawlessly for us, over the last 1¾ years, with both cellular service & email (MSN Outlook & Gmail), as well as Xfinity Internet - with its [750mbps avg] internet speeds.

Still have the trusty S7A – that I use for music & podcasts &c.
But upgraded to the S23+ in 2023, and still really enjoying the upgrade.

• AT&T Mobile w/3 phones was averaging: $154~$158
• Xfinity Mobile w/3 phones = $95/mo (+ fees)

• AT&T Internet (of which started-out as DSL at $28/mo) had slowly skyrocketed to $67/mo... (as AT&T forced customers onto their super slow, so-called 'High Speed' 25 Mbps 🙄) internet!
• Now, our super-fast Xfinity Internet is only $15/mo ($18 total w/fees)!
