Copy photos directly from Android Smartphone to Android Tablet (or vice versa) via USB C (or Bluetooth)

So I want to copy a few photos from my smartphone to my Samsung tablet - I thought it would be a simple matter of connecting them via a USB C cable, they then see each other as a device, I browse to the files then copy those files from one device to the other as required.

Either I'm really stupid (quite possible) or it's not as easy as it should be because I can't seem to achieve this one simple task.

I can of course connect the smartphone to my PC, browse to the files, copy from smartphone to PC, unplug the smartphone, plug in the tablet, copy those files from PC to tablet.

But that seems very long-winded.

Is there an easier way to do this via a cable or even Bluetooth between the tablet and smartphone? Something that is very easy to set up and use?

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions. Even so, it's still not nearly as easy as it should be, something that I am increasingly discovering with Android.

Personally, I find uploading photos to my Google Photos in the cloud to be really easy and convenient, since the photos are immediately available to any other device that's also logged into my Google account. Some of these things just take a little getting used to.:)

If your Samsung tablet and phone are signed in the same Samsung account and on at least Andriod I believe 12 or 13 can try in settings>connected device>tap continue on other device.
But what's mentioned above like Google photos or other cloud services is easier.

Thank you, I guess it's a case of getting out of the Windows mindset.

Just the USB-C to USB-C cable that came with the Galaxy tab.
With a USB OTG adapter/cable, you should be able to get one device to "host" the other, as if plugging in a USB thumb drive for then transferring files.
