Not sure of the benefits of this. In the blank text field line, it already indicates if the person one is about to message, is on RCS.

This is for at a glance in overview. Google being Google has no design consistency so apparently it's needed in a third place now.

It gives the illusion they are improving Messages when they aren't or can't come up with anything innovative to implement.
