RCS on Google Messages Problem on Samsung S20 Ultra G988U

My sister in law is having a strange problem with her text messages. First the Samsung text message app started not getting all texts. So she switched to Google Messages (GM) and it was much better. She was getting RCS messages for a while, say a month or so. Then she got a warning saying something about not having enough memory (she doesn't remember the exact wording). Then in GM it said "This chat is unavailable right now. Turn on RCS in settings to continue chatting". But when I try to turn it on, it says "RCS chats aren't available for this device".

That obviously isn't true, it was on this device this morning, and my wife has the exact same phone on the same provider with no issues.

I have restarted, cleared the cache, uninstalled and reinstalled, and no luck. Any suggestions?

How old is the sim card ?
Might want to try clearing data then force stop the message app

I tried force stop and clear data. No change. Sim card is less than a year old, I think I think it was new when we switched to Total Wireless.

Welcome to Android Central! Ask her to open her Play Store app and search for "Carrier Services" (the app from Google). Make sure that's up to date.

I tried force stop and clear data. No change. Sim card is less than a year old, I think I think it was new when we switched to Total Wireless.

Try also going to settings>connections>mobile network>Access Point Names then upper right corner tap and reset to default

All RCS goes through JIBE (Google) servers. Try clearing data and force stop on Samsung Messages and don't open it. On Google Messages turn off RCS in app. Go to https://messages.google.com/disable-chat and unregister there. Wait an hour.

Try reactivating RCS.
