Why didn't you get the S25?

I've been seeing ads for the S25 like I don't remember ever seeing ads for at least the S24 or S23 series. I'm sure there were ads out there and maybe it was because I bought those devices that I don't recall seeing so many ads but I feel like the S25 series has been a little different. I mean I'm still seeing incentive offers from carriers and Samsung alike.

For me, I've said the last 3 years that I wasn't going to get the newest device but always ended up caving for one reason or another. Usually it was that I started watching reviews and just got drawn into the hype. This time though, they just didn't give me enough, ... enough spice I guess, to entice me. And while I know, and have told myself many times with these year after year devices, not much has changed, this time I think it was too much was lost + not enough has changed. Same battery size, only a slightly better chip set, and the loss of BT on the S-Pen, and, and what? A few AI tools that we will likely all get eventually, that is if you care about them, which I kind of don't. Are any of you like me, a new device every year until this year? What stopped you?

I haven't had a Samsung in a while, but I am the same with almost any new phone. In my opinion, it's not worth the yearly upgrade anymore. Back when I upgraded from the S2 to the S3, that was huge....now...not so much.

I have been on the Pixel since its inception. But I had the Pixel1, 3, 5a, and 6a. The 5a to the 6a was due to a free phone offer from TMobile when I switched from AT&T. I am still on the 6a, and only in the last week or so, I started to consider an upgrade. My battery life is starting to fall...not bad, but sometimes, it can be like falling off a cliff.

Yeah this was how the rest of my family ended up with S24Us. Verizon was practically giving them away last year so I got them each one for an activation fee, if memory serves. I bought mine out right from Sammy but still owe $700+ on each of them, but only if I leave BigRed. I think it's 2 more years with them.

I didn't upgrade to be S25 Ultra because to me it's a downgrade from the S24 Ultra.
Yeah exactly. At some point people are going to see taking away features as a down grade. I felt it when they took away the magnetic strip transmitter feature. Then they always have some lame excuse, well these days card readers are all NFC equipped, well let me tell you, no they aren't. And in some of the places where you would think it would be desired and you know they have the money to do it, like Wally World, where you have to check yourself out but need to touch everything to do it. SMH.

I expect my family to keep their devices for close to the 7 promised years. I will keep mine until something comes along that I don't want to miss out on arrives and at this rate it might be 7 years. HAHAHA

I'm staying with my S24+ because... well... it still works.

There's nothing that the S25 series offers that is significantly better, to me, than what I have now.

Besides, we did get my youngest son an S25 earlier this year. Using my old S9 he was using as a trade-in to get it.

So I was able to get a preview of One UI 7 before it was finally released to my phone.

I didn't upgrade to be S25 Ultra because to me it's a downgrade from the S24 Ultra. I like the Bluetooth S Pen, which the S25 Ultra lacks. Additionally, my S24 Ultra is still capable of everything else that I need.
I completely agree with Laura. I prefer the design and features of my like new S24 U ultra. There was nothing that interested me to purchase S25ultra

Happy with both but may upgrade to Flip 7 by year's end
This is a highly personal take on foldables.
I've watched several reviews of foldable devices as well as JerryRigEverything's durability and teardown videos on them and I'm just not feeling the, I really want that, pull I get for other devices. Even before meeting this guy I work with who I mostly communicate with through Google Translate and each time we talk and he has to pull out his phone I think, it's pretty and a neat device, but then I think it's a lot of work. Maybe it would be different with the Fold, with it's bigger outside screen, but it's just a lot to open and unlock it all of the time. Plus, these slab devices keep getting glass updates making them stronger and stronger vs the soft screens of the foldables... I guess it would depend on your lifestyle and daily activities. They are neat and I think for others looking in they may be impressive, but in practical everyday use, I see where the novelty could ware off.

I understand what you're saying. The main reason I haven't considered foldables is because I like the inbuilt S Pen silo. I'd be afraid of losing my S Pen or having issues finding a case to accommodate it if I got a foldable. For example, I have a Tab S6 Lite that has an S Pen. I lost the S Pen for the tablet in my house and ordered a replacement. One day after the replacement arrived, I found the original tablet S Pen. However, I'm not sure I'd be so lucky if I took a device without an inbuilt S Pen silo on the go, rather than at home.

If I could recover every dollar I spent for something I replaced only to find it almost immediately, I'd be handsome and rich.

Not because I'm handsome already but because I could afford plastic surgery and have that much leftover.
